The challenge

Waldaschaff Automotive GmbH is a medium-sized company that manufactures systems, components and parts from steel and aluminium as a supplier to the automotive industry. The entire merchandise management is based on SAP and was active at the time of the changeover on IBM Power5 servers with IBM AIX operating systems, from 2006, which reached their performance limits.

The solution

The servers distributed on two buildings on the factory premises were replaced by current IBM Power7 systems. In addition to procuring, adapting and setting up the hardware and software, K&P also migrated data and services from previously isolated systems in the PLM environment to the new environment.
The KPC rac® cluster solution developed by K&P Computer was specially adapted for Waldaschaff Automotive in order to synchronize data between the data centers and to be able to activate partitions (virtual machines) at the reserve location in the event of a disaster.
Within two months of the project kickoff, K&P Computer delivered the new infrastructure to the customer, fully documented and ready for operation, so that the conversion of the SAP systems could take place punctually at the end of the year.

K&P Computer also takes over the hardware service of the new systems and is available to the customer within the scope of an operating support contract also for future adaptations.
