Overland-Tandberg support for tape library systems
Reliable, independent, future-proof

Overland-Tandberg support for tape library systems

K&P Computer supports companies in the long-term operation of tape library systems for professional backup and archiving environments. With manufacturer-independent support, our own spare parts logistics and clearly defined SLA models, we ensure the availability of productive tape infrastructures.

Stable operation even without manufacturer support

Long-term maintenance for Overland-Tandberg tape systems

Overland-Tandberg (often referred to as Tandberg Overland) has ceased operations. Nevertheless, many of the manufacturer’s tape library systems are still in productive use – especially in environments with long-term archiving and backup requirements. The discontinuation of OEM support increases the importance of a reliable maintenance strategy.

K&P Computer provides manufacturer-independent support for these tape infrastructures with structured fault diagnosis, documented service processes and clearly defined response times. The aim is to ensure predictable, stable operation – even beyond EOL and EOSL times.

Support for current and established platforms

Technical support for Overland-Tandberg tape libraries

NEOs Series

The NEOs StorageLoader, NEOs T24 and NEOs T48 systems are used in compact to medium-sized backup environments. Support includes the maintenance of drives, robotics and slot mechanics as well as targeted error analysis in the event of media handling faults. The provision of spare parts and preventive measures are an integral part of the support.

NEOxl Series

The scalable NEOxl 40 and NEOxl 80 platforms as well as NEOxl Expansion Modules, NEOxl 8000 and NEOe 8000 are used in extensive archive and backup landscapes. Due to their modular architecture and high slot capacities, they place particular demands on maintenance and spare parts availability. K&P Computer supports these systems with structured maintenance, system tests and SLA-based support for long-term operation.

Maintenance and support of individual tape drives

Support for LTO standalone drives

In addition to complete tape libraries, K&P Computer also supports stand-alone LTO drives (tape drives) from Overland-Tandberg. These include NEO LTO drives of the LTO-6, LTO-7 and LTO-8 generations in internal and external versions, which are often used as dedicated backup drives or in server and archive systems.

The focus is on the physical operational reliability of these components: Tape transport, write and read mechanics, drive units and interfaces are checked and repaired if necessary. Specialized individual devices such as the external TDC-LTO9S-I SAS drive can also be integrated into existing maintenance concepts. The aim is to ensure the reliable continued operation of individual tape drives without dependence on the OEM.

Manufacturer-independent continued operation in existing buildings

Support for older Overland-Tandberg platforms

In many IT environments, older systems such as NEO 2000e, NEO 4000e, T40+ or T80+ are still in productive use. Despite their age, they often still reliably perform defined archiving or backup tasks.

K&P Computer offers manufacturer-independent support for these platforms, provided that spare parts and technical framework conditions are available. The support focuses on error analysis, the replacement of worn components and documented maintenance measures. This means that existing tape infrastructures can continue to be operated in a controlled manner, without short-term migration projects or unnecessary system changes.

Ensure long-term availability and investment protection

Why specialized tape support is crucial

Tape systems have different requirements than classic server or storage platforms. Mechanics, media handling and drive precision require special expertise, especially in continuous operation over many years. Without suitable support, the risk of failures, media errors or extended recovery times increases significantly.

With structured maintenance, documented support and its own spare parts logistics, K&P Computer ensures that Overland-Tandberg tape libraries can be operated stably even without manufacturer support. This means that archive data remains accessible and existing investments are protected in the long term.
