IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
What is IaaS?
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a cloud computing model in which companies rent IT infrastructure resources such as computing power, storage space and network components via the internet. IaaS providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud provide the hardware and virtualization, while companies manage their own applications and operating systems.
Advantages and areas of application
IaaS enables a high degree of flexibility and cost efficiency, as companies do not have to buy or maintain their own hardware. They only pay for the resources they actually use and can scale the infrastructure quickly if required. Typical areas of application are web hosting, big data analysis and backup solutions. IaaS is particularly attractive for start-ups and companies that require a dynamic IT infrastructure.
