What is the equipment lifecycle?
The equipment lifecycle describes the complete lifecycle of IT and infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems and network hardware. It includes planning, use, maintenance, support and the final decommissioning or disposal of the equipment.

Areas of application and benefits
The equipment lifecycle is primarily taken into account in infrastructure planning, hardware maintenance and managed services. A holistic lifecycle view enables maintenance strategies to be optimized, investments to be better managed and risks from end-of-life systems to be reduced. The added value lies in higher operational reliability, optimized total cost of ownership (TCO) and a strategic basis for decisions between OEM support, TPM or hardware refresh.
