Device Lifecycle
What is the device lifecycle?
The device lifecycle describes the individual phases that an IT end device or hardware component goes through during its use – from procurement to operation, maintenance and support through to decommissioning. It is a central component of hardware and asset management.
Areas of application and benefits
The device lifecycle is used in companies, managed services and IT operating models to manage devices in a standardized and efficient manner. A clear lifecycle view enables predictable maintenance, timely replacement and the reduction of security and failure risks. Added value is created through lower operating costs, improved availability and a structured decision-making basis for refresh, replacement or TPM strategies.
