Deduplication
What is deduplication?
Deduplication is a storage space optimization technology that identifies and removes duplicate data. Instead of storing the same data multiple times, only a single copy is kept, while references to this copy are created for the other instances. Deduplication is often used in backup systems, cloud storage and databases to reduce storage requirements.
Advantages and possible applications
The use of deduplication not only saves storage space, but also network bandwidth and costs. Companies benefit from faster backup processes and more efficient use of resources. Deduplication is particularly useful in environments with large amounts of data, such as data centers, big data analysis and cloud computing.
