K&P Computer increases annual result by 5.5 percent

35 years of successful company history
Wiesbaden, June 16, 2020 +++ K&P Computer Service- und Vertriebs-GmbH, headquartered in Wiesbaden and one of Germany’s leading IT service providers (www.kpc.de), has increased its 2019 annual result by 5.5% compared to the previous year. Total sales amounted to 29.9 million euros, which corresponds to an increase of 3.5% compared to 2018. The Wiesbaden-based company serves 3,046 corporate customers in its core area of IT maintenance – 5.3% more than in the previous year. Sales in the Managed Services business area even grew by 24.4%. In addition, K&P Computer recorded an 8.5 percent increase in orders in the project business. A large proportion of the newly acquired projects were for virtualization and the modernization of IT infrastructures. These positive developments will continue in 2020. K&P Computer is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and, despite the current dynamic market situation, is optimistic about the future.
Over the past three and a half decades, K&P Computer has evolved from a maintenance service provider to a global full-service provider. With the strategic partnership entered into in 2019 with Curvature – the world’s largest third-party provider of third-party maintenance (TPM) and multi-vendor network and data center IT lifecycle services – the company is sending a clear signal for the further expansion of its international maintenance business. K&P Computer’s dynamic growth is also reflected in the continuous expansion of its range of services. Most recently, the new services KPC Managed Cloud Firewall and KPC Managed Workplace have been added to the portfolio. This is K&P Computer’s response to the continuing rise in demand for managed services. Companies are increasingly opting for cloud services and shared infrastructure in order to relieve the burden on their own IT department and concentrate on their core business. More and more customers are transferring operational responsibility for internal IT processes to the IT service provider, either in certain areas or as a whole. K&P Computer uses its in-house, TÜViT-certified data center in Wiesbaden for software and backup-as-a-service services. There are also innovations in the area of IT maintenance. The Wiesbaden-based company has recently started offering maintenance for POS systems and has already been able to convince well-known customers of the benefits of this service.
IBM Award in the anniversary year
On May 6 of this year, K&P Computer was presented with the IBM Bestseller Award in the “Commercial Champion” category by IBM at the Think 2020 online technology congress. With this award, the outstanding achievements of the long-standing IBM Business Partner were once again recognized in a special way. The conference, which was originally planned for 30,000 participants in San Francisco, was held as an online event due to the current coronavirus situation. The award ceremony for K&P Computer took place via livestream.
Unrestricted service in Corona times
Even in the current crisis, K&P Computer offers unlimited IT support. In addition to the growing demand for managed services and cloud services, K&P Computer has observed a change in customer behavior as a result of the Covid-19 crisis. Companies have become more reluctant to invest in new IT infrastructure. Instead, they are extending their existing maintenance contracts in order to close investment gaps without jeopardizing ongoing IT operations. In this exceptional time, the IT service provider is also supporting its customers outside of existing contracts, for example with shortened terms. In order to keep hardware costs low, more customers are also looking for used, refurbished IT equipment. Through its partner network, K&P Computer has worldwide access to refurbished goods with a lifetime guarantee. If new hardware is nevertheless required, the service provider also offers rental or leasing options. In addition, its IT specialists provide on-site or remote support to customers who are currently experiencing staff shortages. Monitoring solutions such as KPC watch® and backup solutions such as KPC Veeam Cloud Connect are also more in demand than ever. Last but not least, K&P Computer has expanded the range of web seminars on offer at its K&P Tech Academy. Here, customers can learn more about topics such as IBM i, Managed Workplace or IT maintenance as well as K&P Computer’s own solutions online.
A special anniversary year
“We can look back on 35 years of successful company history, of which I am very proud,” says Managing Director Karl-Peter Münkel. “I would like to thank all our employees for their dedication and loyalty. This anniversary year is a special one for all of us. The Covid-19 pandemic represents a historic turning point that has brought about noticeable changes in almost every area of our lives. Thanks to our crisis-proof business model, we have come through the last few weeks and months very well – at no point have we had to consider short-time working or even staff cuts. On the contrary, we have seen that our customers are counting on our support and that we are well positioned for the future with our innovative range of services. I am grateful for this and look forward to the next 35 years of K&P Computer.”
