Interview with Dirk Müller: Keeping the IT infrastructure up to date

Dirk Müller, CEO

From: Berthold Wesseler

Keeping the IT infrastructure up to date is one of the main tasks of IT managers. However, many also use older IT systems for good reasons, be it for reasons of sustainability, a lack of alternatives (due to a lack of compatibility with tried-and-tested software) or because of the risks or costs of replacing them.

External maintenance is required to keep the IT infrastructure up to date. In an interview with DV-Dialog, Dirk Müller, CIO at K&P, explains how IT service providers can help IT managers with the resulting balancing act.

Mr. Müller, what advantages can K&P Computer offer as a full-service provider compared to maintenance by the manufacturer or even in-house?

Dirk Müller: First and foremost, we see ourselves in the role of consultant. Thanks to our many years of experience, our product-specific expertise and our network with all leading manufacturers, we have a holistic view. We provide comprehensive advice across all manufacturers. This means that we take a very close look at the entire IT environment and work with the customer to develop an optimized and sustainable maintenance concept on the basis of a comprehensive inventory analysis. And this is often a mixture of manufacturer maintenance and alternative third-party maintenance (TPM). A so-called hybrid maintenance model. Especially in the AS/400 environment, where we have the particularity that there are still a lot of very old systems, TPM in combination with our Managed Services is a real alternative to a new investment.
