IBM i license change on May 7, 2024: Your options for action

Change in the licensing of IBM i with the processor classes P05 / P10

Wiesbaden, 14.03.2024+++ What changes will you face? All non-expiring licenses must be converted to a subscription term from 07.05.2024 when purchasing / moving to a new IBM Power10. This applies to all licenses, including the operating system. From this date, only the following license programs outside the operating system will be available as subscriptions: ” Backup, Recovery, and Media Services (BRMS) (5770-BR1, 5770-BR2)
” Rational Development Studio for i (5770-WDS)
” PowerHA SystemMirror for i (5770-HAS)
” Cloud Storage Solutions for i (5733-ICC)
” Db2 Mirror for i (5770-DBM)
” Rational Developer for i (ordered through the Power Channel (5733-RDW) or Passport Advantage)
” ARCAD Observer for IBM i (5733-AO1)
” ARCAD RPG Converter for IBM i (5733-AC1)
” IBM i Modernization Engine for Lifecycle Integration (“Merlin”, ordered via Passport Advantage) What options do you have? If you decide to purchase a new IBM Power10 before 07.05.2024, you have the option of transferring your non-expiring licenses to the new device as usual. In addition, the SWMA can still be extended.
If you decide to purchase a Power10 after 07.05.2024, you are obliged to convert your existing non-expiring licenses into the subscription model mentioned above.
